ServicesServices
Seaward operates a diverse fleet of government-owned vessels. Included in the fleet mix are technology demonstrators, experimental craft, range and service craft, training craft, research vessels and security boats.
In addition to the operation of the above fleet, Seaward provides engineering support and maintenance of the fleet and small craft as well. Further, Seaward offers expertise in testing and evaluation of proto type and experimental craft.
Technology Demonstrators
Technology demonstrators are prototype craft that have been built to demonstrate the latest in hull configuration, propulsion systems, and communications and navigation. They are also employed to test new sensor systems.
Range Craft
Range craft perform duties associated with the test and evaluation of new weapons and sensor systems on instrumented test ranges on the east and west coasts of the United States.
Training Craft
Training craft support mission-related training of active duty military personnel, including water survival training for USAF aircrews, RHIB operation and maintenance for fleet units and diver training for US Navy salvage and rescue divers and for the Explosive Ordinance Dive Training School.
Research Vessels
Research Vessels are employed for the purposes of supporting the EPA in reef and coastline protection and for the purpose of testing and evaluating military-related sensors and other devices in open ocean areas of the United States and closely surrounding countries. They also monitor water quality and collect samples of water, fauna and flora. Research vessels may deploy to sea for extended periods (weeks) of time, although they do also conduct local operations of less than 24 hours duration.
Range and Training Craft
Range and training craft generally do not operate on a 24 hour a day basis, so the Seaward mariners employed aboard these vessels are generally at home with their families each evening.

In meeting its contractual obligations, Seaward provides the crews (the sea-going personnel, from Master to Ordinary Seaman, and from Chief Engineer to Wiper), the maintenance management (Port Captains and Port Engineers), the maintenance “mechanics” (Diesel Mechanics, Outboard Motor Mechanics, Electricians, Electronic Technicians, Welders and Machinists) the logistic support (Purchasing Agents, Supply Technicians, Warehousemen) and the contract management (Project and Program Managers). Seaward also provides, where required, degreed engineers in the following disciplines: Marine, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Acoustical and Ocean.
It is Seaward’s policy to perform as much of its contracted maintenance work as possible in-house and on-site. In this regard, Seaward operates fully equipped maintenance shops at all of its contracted worksites.
