International And Domestic Vessel Operators with Diverse Commercial And Government Shipping Expertise

Established in 1981, Seaward Services, Inc. (SSI), a subsidiary of Hornblower Corporation, is a full-service shipping, waterfront logistics and management company that specializes in the operation and maintenance of government and commercial vessels; including: high-speed craft, range craft, training craft, experimental craft, research vessels, cable-laying vessels, and unmanned surface and sub-surface vessels. The organization is led by seasoned maritime executives and management with many years of experience within commercial shipping, the U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Navy. SSI has distinguished itself in the industry as a reliable, safe, and effective maritime vessel owner and operator.

Seaward’s niche expertise lies in high-speed, jet-powered shipping. Since 2001, the oranization has crewed, operated, and maintained a wide variety of high-speed vessels in support of DoD contracts, including the: HST WestPac Express, USNS Guam, USNS Puerto Rico, FSF-1 Sea Fighter, HSC Alakai, and sea trials for the Independence-Variant LCS and Spearhead Class EPF’s. Seaward has also operated traditional deep-water vessels for various DoD contracts such as the OSV Hercules out of Dutch Harbor and the O&M for the TSV’s Prevail, Hugo, Hunter, and Narragansett which provided training support to the US Navy.

In addition to afloat expertise, Seaward also has extensive experience managing shoreside operations. For 30 years, Seaward has held the prime contract for NSWC’s South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF) to provide logistical, technical, and engineering support for the electromagnetic signature testing range. Seaward also held the waterfront operations support prime contract for NSWC’s, Norfolk, Combatant Craft Division from 2013-2018.

In 2021, Seaward purchased two OSV’s from MSRC and converted them into multi-purpose offshore vessels capable of performing dynamic and versatile maritime operations for commercial and military partners. To-date, the ships have executed several successful missions off the coasts of California, Hawaii, Guam and Japan for Army and Navy special forces.

In 2022, Seaward entered into a joint venture with Windea to build the United State’s first, fully dedicated Crew Transfer Vessels which will service Vineyard Wind off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. Seaward will crew and operate the vessels after construction in the summer of 2023.
